Welcome to George D. Schultz' little corner of cyberspace.
George was born in Detroit, Michigan, in the early 1930s – and grew up during a time before a microwaved dinner was eaten in front of the TV, expired nuclear powered spy satellites dropped back to earth, or violence from half the world away was posted on You Tube two seconds after it occurred. It was a time when boys played baseball in sandlots, girls played house, teenagers went to family rated movies, families enjoyed the same radio program, and nothing was better than a great Mystery Novel.
During the Korean Conflict, George served in the Navy. Afterward, he returned to Detroit, married, and sired seven children. He spent most of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s managing rent-a-car agencies in Detroit, Chicago, New York City, Buffalo, central New Jersey, and Houston — before embarking on his greatest passion — writing stories and novels. Over then next couple of decades he has written 100s of short stories on a contract basis, while privately writing a half dozen mystery novels having a nostalgia writing flair to them.
Today, George is living in Houston, Texas with his dog Hilda, — just a stone's throw away from his dozens of grandchildren and enough great-grandchildren to make the Kennedy Clan envious.
Sadly, writers not having the last name of Mitchner, (or Presidential aspirations, being a former Presidential press secretary with some dirt on the First Family, or a pro athlete with a drug problem) find it hard to find a publisher willing to go out on a limb and publish their novels. So after 20 years of trying to get his works published, George is self-publishing his novels. Thus far he has rewritten and fine-tuned three of his 'classics' — and published them. They are available on this web site.
While these books will never have the sales volume worthy of the opportunity to make the "Times' Best Seller's List" or "Oprah's List", they (like many self-published books) are some of the best books most people will never have the opportunity to read.
On this web site, you have the opportunity to purchase any (or all) of these books, hand-signed, and inscribed by the author. In the side-bar to the right you will find links to pages giving more information, and a sample of these novels. Order any of these books directly from George D. Schultz through this web site, and he'll be happy to personally sign and inscribe it for you. These books make excellent gifts, especially for the more mature reader — so why not order one for Mom, Dad, Aunt Sophie, and Uncle Cletus?
If you have read one of George's books, please take a moment to comment on the book page with your opinion. If you operate a book store within a short driving distance of Houston, Texas — consider speaking with George about attending a book signing event at your book store.
Feel free to use the Contact George link at the top of the page to email George D. Schultz.
